Member Spotlight- Donna Schoolcraft

Donna, who now signs her artwork “DScool”, studied Fine Arts at LSU as a painting major/teaching minor, then moved to Texas where she opened Flower Country, her own flower shop in the small town of Kaufman. Here she was able to continue her education in business and motherhood while pursuing her artistic talents in floral design.

Donna became a member of the Rockwall Art League after retiring and moving to the Rockwall area, in 2011, to be close to her children. Being involved with exhibits, members meetings, and studio days was perfect for someone who had put her canvas and paints away while life flew by. She is best known for her small acrylic landscape paintings. As a member of the League, one of her first sales was a bluebonnet landscape and after the thrill of it all, she was hooked.

Although landscape was her first love, she explored new ideas and opportunities which led her to a newfound love called ArtReach. Donna has been involved with the ArtReach program as a volunteer for several years and has now been serving as 3rd Vice President/ArtReach Chair for the last three.

For Donna, creating art in so many ways, with special needs adults, is not only fun and rewarding, but also an adventure in letting go and finding joy and fulfillment in the process. Her more recent paintings such as “Floating Essence” and “Evolving” reveal this ongoing adventure and a desire to follow the slogan; “Grow where God plants you.”  For Donna Schoolcraft the Rockwall Art League has been a perfect place to be planted and to grow.
