A newcomer to the art scene, Ashley Portals is known for using bright color and flowing form to explore human emotions by experiencing them, and then releasing them on canvas. Though most of her work is acrylic based, she is not easily pigeonholed, as she enjoys experimenting and believes it should always be a part of the artist’s journey to evolve and explore.

As to what she hopes to accomplish with her art, she says, “I want to make people feel something. I want to leave pieces of me in every work, and then, I want the viewer to recognize there’s a piece of them - an experience, a memory, or a feeling that they relate to in the piece. “

Ashley also serves as the Vice-President of the Rockwall Art League and is Co-Chair of the Fall Art Show. She also arranges for the Demonstrations by Art Professionals enjoyed each month at our member meetings. She has participated, as an Artist in the RAL Fall Show and is exhibiting in the DFW area, as well. She has also contributed her paintings to charities including the Rockwall Women's League for their annual fund raiser.

Besides our monthly meetings on the last Wednesday of the month Rockwall Art League has Studio Day – a day when we gather at Harry Myers Community Center (Summer in Fate, TX Community Center)  with our paint and canvases, drawing pencils and tablet,  watercolor and paper, or any medium we might want to work on and create art together.  It is a fun time to get to know each other better and share creative ideas with other fellow artists.  Bring a sack lunch and drink and enjoy the day.  We meet from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm – arrive when you want to and leave when you must. There is a nominal fee of $5.00 for each Studio Day or you can pay $15 and come to them all.

More information via our calendar.

I love to create and collaborate with other artists and musicians."
